So Westworld didn’t win any Emmy last night but none-the-less, it’s exciting to hear the series co-creators teasing fans about the upcoming season. Perhaps you know that Lisa joy is directing Westworld season 2 episode 4 and according to husband and fellow showrunner Jonathan Nolan, she is bringing a lot to the table.
On the red carpet at the 2017 Emmy Awards, Nolan told Joy, in an interview withTVLine:
“You’ve [Joy] made it far more violent and disturbing than we ever intended. It was quite a placid episode, and Lisa has kind of turned it into a bloodbath.”
Here’s the video interview:
It’s probably worth mentioning here that if you were watching the Emmys and wondering where James Marsden and Luke Hemsworth are at, then you should know that the Westworld stars skipped the award function to participate in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. It’s for a good cause, the proceedings will go to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, reports THR.
Because they are shooting Westworld season 2 right now, staying in shape is a requirement, especially for Marsden.
“It forces you to stay in shape because you never know when you’re going to be asked to get naked,” he explains.
“What scares me is not knowing when that scene is going to be shot. Sometimes they’ll say, ‘Oh, you have to be naked in three days.’ Because we’re all so naked we all sort of hold each other’s hands and jump off the cliff together. They are very respectful and I’m never fully, fully, fully nude.”
Also, Tessa Thompson was recently asked about Westworld and she promised a “bonkers” season 2.
“It’s like every script that I get on Westworld, I sort of, like, pick up my jaw off the floor and I’m, like, here we go,” she says.
“And then, of course, sometimes you’re shooting things that you don’t have a full script for, so the show continues to unravel as a mystery to us as it does to the audience,” Thompson told ET.
Two more interviews to catch up on. One from Evan Rachel Wood and the other from Westworld cinematographer Paul Cameron.
Wood told Vulture that she is currently halfway into filming season 2. She also said there are going to be “more than one world” shown but we already know that. Last week, Hiroyuki Sanada was signed on to play Musashi so we are likely to see Samurai World.
Speaking of playing the new ‘bloodthirsty’ Dolores, Wood says, “it’s extremely difficult because it’s a very complex, challenging, technical role.”
Paul Cameron, the Cinematographer talked to Where to Watch about building Westworld, the park in a way that is tempting to the audience.
“We wanted people to feel like they wanted to come there. It’s this idea of the guests coming into town and feeling comfortable pushing their own desires, whether it’s getting into gun battles or going into the brothel,” he said. Check out the full interview here.
