Westworld Nominated for Directors Guild and Costume Designers Guild Awards

HBO‘s Westworld keeps getting more and more nominations every week. In case you didn’t know, after being notoriously snubbed by the Golden Globes, Westworld received nominations for the VES Awards, Producers Guild and Art Directors Guild Awards. Now the show has been nominated at two of Hollywood heavyweights, the Directors Guild Awards and the Costume Designers Guild Awards. By the looks of it, Westworld will be picking up more nominations in days to come.

Westworld

This is certainly proving to be a busy week for Westworld. We are not complaining.

One of the top contenders among television shows, Westworld’s Jonathan Nolan received nominations along with the rest of his directorial team, in the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series for 2016 category. Nolan’s teammates include Unit Production Manager Robert Del Valle, First Assistant Director Kim H. Winther, Second Assistant Director Jeff Okabayashi and Second Second Assistant Directors Michelene Mundo and Katie Pruitt. This is Jonathan Nolan’s first nomination at the DGA.

Westworld is up against shows like Stranger Things, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (“From the Ashes of Tragedy” and “The Race Card”), and Game of Thrones (the reigning champion).

For everyone who’s interested, here’s a fun fact. The first DGA Award was an “Honorary Life Member” award issued in 1938 to D. W. Griffith.

Mandy Moore will be hosting the 19th Costume Designers Guild Awards which is produced annually for recognising excellence in costume design in films, television, and commercials. Westworld has picked two nominations in the Excellence in a Period Television Series category. Both Trish Summerville (for the Pilot) and Ane Crabtree (for the entire series) took to social media sites like Instagram to express gratitude for being nominated.

Honored to be nominated by the #CDG for #westworld Big THANK YOU to my incredible team

Other nominations at CDA includes The Crown’s Michele Clapton, Penny Dreadful’s Gabriella Pescucci, Stranger Things’ Kimberly Adams and Malgosia Turzanska.

The 69th Annual DAG Awards will be handed out on Saturday, February 4 and the winner of the 19th CDG Awards will be announced on Tuesday, February 21 in a ceremony taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Who do you think should nab the awards? Personally, I feel, besides Westworld, Michele Clapton and Gabriella Pescucci have done a good job.
