HBO’s Western-themed show has clinched two more award nominations this past week. The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America have nominated the show in this year’s very diverse and impressive list of best in science fiction and fantasy stories in the Nebula Awards. Westworld is also among the Location Managers Guild Awards nominees of this year.
In the TV categories of the LMGI Awards, Mandi Dillin Westworld’s location manager have been nominated for Outstanding Locations in a Period TV Series. Other contenders include Pat Karam, Robert Bentley for The Crown, Matt Jones, Naomi Liston for Game of Thrones, and Nicole Noelle Chartrand, Robert Murdoch of The Man in the High Castle.
The Nebula Awards has nominated Westworld’s “The Bicameral Mind” (directed by Jonathan Nolan, Written by Lisa Joy & Jonathan Nolan) in the dramatic presentation category. Other nominees in the category include Arrival, Doctor Strange, Kubo and the Two Strings, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Zootopia.
Winners of the 51st Annual Nebula Awards will be announced at the Nebula conference, held between May 18-21, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And the LMGI Award will take place on 8th April at theWarner Bros. Studios, Burbank.
Westworld might have had no luck at the Golden Globes and disappointed at the SAG Awards, but over the past few weeks, the show has won several recognitions like the Art Directors Guild Award, the Satellite Awards, Golden Reel & Make-up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards, et al.
It’s worth mentioning, Westworld Season 1 is releasing in digital HD in a few days. If you are not looking forward to the digital release, then you should because, it’ll feature a special one-hour worth commentary where “the cast, creators, and producers [will be] going inside the making of the series.” If you ask me, for a grand scale show like Westworld, an hour of commentary falls short of quenching fan’s interest.
