If you don’t know already, let me just introduced you to one of Westworld’s most clever marketing tactic. The Discover Westworld website (discoverwestworld.com) is a mick site built as the Parks official site where people can visit and plan for a vacation at the Westworld. You can learn about the locations or even have a chat with a host name Aden. Just don’t ask him anything about the Webby Awards, we already did that!
While the show focuses mostly on the hosts, it’s interesting that the website prompts us to think and feel like a guest.
The site shouldn’t be dismissed as some marketing gimmick, it is home to several Easter eggs and hidden messages. Like all else, the creators have given thought and have intricately built a site for a fuller experience of Westworld.
The website does a hard sell for attracting guest. The place is a poor man’s dream. It’s pretty convincing. And honestly, had it been the real park I would’ve been tempted for a visit. But of course, I wouldn’t be able to go there because I’m broke.
So Discover Westworld has been nominated for the Webby Awards, which, in case you don’t know is a leading international award ceremony that honor excellence in the following fields/categories: websites; advertising and media; mobile sites and apps; online film and video; and social. In every category, there are two winners. One selected by people’s vote (under Webby People’s Voice voting) and the other by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (a committee comprised of Jimmy Kimmel, Eva Chen, Questlove, Alexis Ohanian, and more).
Discover Westworld is up against – Rogue One: a Star Wars Story, Independence Day: My Street, The Jungle Book, and Sound of Change.
You can vote for Discover Westworld by clicking here. Anyone who wants to take a look at discoverwestworld.com can do so. We’ve heard that the site is hard to access outside the US. If you don’t live in the States and are constantly redirected to HBO Canada site or the HBO Asia, click on this link to access Discover Westworld from anywhere and everywhere.
Voting for the 21st Webby Awards ends on Thursday, April 20. The ceremony will be held on May 15 in the New York City.
